On 12 October, AI4Cities will co-host, together with Procure2Innovate and the Urban Agenda, the EWRC session “Public procurement specialists meet the market – market engagement strategies and the example of AI.”

Public authorities are increasingly realising that public procurement can be a strategic tool to drive innovation. A key aspect of a successful public procurement of innovation is to encourage innovative (small and medium-sized) companies to bid for tenders. This requires innovative approaches to market engagement.

Through the first phases of its PCP and its Open Market Consultation, AI4Cities has gathered plenty practical experience in engaging the market such innovative ways. Topgether with P2I and the Urban Agenda, it aims to share its knowledge with the audience. The practical experience will be complemented by the scientific perspective of Willem Janssen, associate professor at the Utrecht University.
